Hello World!

A few years ago a friend invited me to co-author with him on a new blog he started.  I wanted to do that, but never got around to it.  In time you may see why, but I’ll leave that for now.  And like my friend, I think it’s never too late to start a blog.

Today I decided I had something to say, but couldn’t find the password, so I’m starting from scratch.

I’ve been an engineer and engineering manager for more years than I can remember, and after a rather drastic downsizing by my employer of 23 years, I found myself in a position where I could retire.  So I did.  Theoretically.  Actually not so much.  One thing I did that was definitely in that direction was to join AARP.

A few years ago my wife and I moved to a place in the country.  We built a house, built a big garden, and set up some space for animals.  We now have goats, donkeys and chickens, plus three dogs.  And a cat.  These animals all have a purpose in our life – the goats are for milk and cheese; the chickens are for eggs, the cat is for catching mice in the barn, and the donkeys are for….  eating hay.

I decided to start this blog because something caught my attention that deserved a response, and I had more to say than just a comment on somebody else’s blog.  I’ll get to that on another day, so for now I’ll just say Hi and Welcome to my blog.
